Polling has been pretty much proven to be inaccurate (being kind) early in election seasons. I think it's pretty clear that they are being manipulated in an attempt to drive a narrative.
These approval ratings polls (which have no way of being proven correct/incorrect) hold no value. They cannot be trusted.

to have an approval rating in the 30's that would mean most of the people who voted for Trump in November would already have given up on him

Just like during the campaign, the ones that do support him have jobs and aren't taking some polling phone call. Over the past year, I've hung up on a few...

Approval polls =/= election polls.

I enjoy being the underdog right before I take what's mine. It's just more fun.

Not really. He only received 46.4% of the popular vote in the election.

So, the US currently has an unemployment rate of 61%, according to your statement.

I always ask who is paying for the poll or on whose behalf. Usually no answer to this. If I get an answer, then I request to hear the 1st 3 question before starting to answer. That usually ends it.
I've heard some really dicey questions through the years in political polls.
My favorite was the "Do you believe health care insurance coverage is a right to all Americans". I answered hell yes, but not their right that I pay for it. They couldn't fit that in as an answer so I just hung up.
