but, but what if it decides to go crazy and kill your other dog?!?!?!?!

It hasn't yet or my wife's wiener dog. He did growl once at my Lab and I pretty firmly let him know that was not acceptable behavior. Pits at the end of day are dogs. Dogs are pack animals. if you assert yourself as the alpha over the dog, then you can pretty well control it's behavior. My biggest fear was I was not this dogs original owner and did not know any triggers to some secret aggressive behavior but I wouldn't let anyone around this dog until I felt comfortable with him being ok and then, we have rules.

I was being sarcastic. I have a 85lb lab/sharpei mix who gets along great with friends' pits.

Makes for awesome security cause the only way you are getting to my backdoor is through him.

Dogs are impulsive. They are as intelligent as 2-3 year old children and should never be trusted or encouraged to provide "security." If your dog gets too territorial it might bite a Girl Scout trying to sell you cookies.

If our dog gets nervous about people walking into or by our house, we discourage that behavior. He is a pet, not a "don't trespass" sign.
