It's not so much about the pick but the cap flexibility created by the trade. IF they can move Ajinca & QPon and stretch Asik that's near max cap room for a Lowry or equivalent talent. Worst case it allows Dell to call Jrue's bluff and sign him for a little less than anticipated and then go out and fill out the roster. The problem is you lose the MLE. However you can still do uneven trades using our 2018 1st, if need be.

I'm not saying Dell is great, but right now he's being smart.

I see your point, but there aren't any teams calling for Ajinca or Q-pon. Dell created this cap disaster and he's basically trying to correct his own mistakes. If we sign Lowry to a max, I would absolutely lose my mind. It's like paying the price of a BMW for a minivan; then 2 years later, trying to get your money back, or find a sucker to buy it from you.

he's better than Holiday, no doubt. but committing a 4 year max/near max to him at 31....
