So you think ensuring your child is safe trashy?
My sister, who is a medical doctor, got to take her son to parades and restaurants she'd have never been able to go to before I got her one of those. Her kid is wild. You turn your head for half a second and he's gone.
Maybe your kid is more relaxed, but when highly acclaimed MDs use them on their kids I think your perception of "trashy" is a bit skewed.

They either have a kid who needs a closer watch or you don't. It enables parents to be lazier than what they need to be. I get that parenting is often about short cuts. This isn't one we would take. Your did isn't a dog.
