Miners using video cards to "mine", which is basically solving mathematical calculations, millions of them.

GPUs have the ability to do this efficiently. People create entire setups of multiple GPUs just to mine for bitcoin and ethereum all day.

So, miners buy up all the AMD Radeon cards, so now every hobbyist like you or me are forced to buy NVidia cards. well now those are going out of stock too, because miners are scooping those up as well.

with bitcoin and ethereum prices surging, a lot of people want to mine it. COuple that with school ending and people building computers as graduation gifts or just to play all summer, along with regular demand, the shortage we are seeing now is created.
