This is really common. So many people skip those lifts for the same reason. Truth be told, the dead is dangerous if you don't educate yourself beforehand, but it's such an important lift imo.

I am firmly in the "advanced" level for all of the lifts based on body weight.

The "elite" level is another story. There are just a couple (one for sure) at my gym that would be there.
