I've been interested in this as well. Most times, players get criticized for leaving a team for more money even if it means they're going some place where they almost certainly can't win anything but the paycheck they're going there for.
KD could have likely done this with other teams...simply headed out of OKC for a paycheck. It's pretty clear he wad done there for whatever reason.
What he did though was nearly the opposite of that, in that he headed some place he thought was the best fit and most likely to win as a team.
Honestly, except for the fact that it created a monster where there was already an incredible basis for calling it the best team in the league, I don't see his move as anything but kind of what you'd WANT from a player that's more interested in being a team guy rather than a selfish, just in it for the check, type of guy.
And as it turned out, KD being there was the biggest reason they ended up winning. He didn't just tag along but lead them to the ring.
The only other option it seems from a fan's perspective is to outlaw free agency entirely and simply force guys to stay put. If we bitch about check chasing AND ring chasing, what else is left? Going to a team for less money AND less chance to win?
