It was stupid to go after healthcare first. Let Obamacare keep smoldering and you can still bash them for it. Now if you pass something you're going to waste a lot of time doing so and now you have something hanging around your neck.
They should have done tax cuts first. Something that will have an immediate impact on business and everyone.

Healthcare is an overly complex system, and one that people acutely notice in their lives. In other words, there's no winning passing a healthcare overhaul. Too bad so many promises to repeal and replace Obamacare to not hang this albatross around their necks.
It's not like a tax overhaul is going to be easy. Lots and lots of competing interests will have feelings. Very costly from the political capital end.

Disagree. Insurers have to set their 2019 premium increases right now. So you would ideally want to have it done already in order for voters to see the results in October 2018. You can still fix the mess but now the results will be unknown for the midterms. And if you pass nothing at all, voters will say "You had ONE JOB and you couldn't get it right".
