Amidst the threats of civil war and all of the craziness, let's have an actual debate.

A few weeks ago, the White House Budget Director made a point regarding our system that I felt was brilliantly obvious. He made the point that there are continual calls for compassion for the dependent poor in our country but no compassion for the taxpayer.
He filtered that by saying we have plentiful means to provide for the truly disabled but supporting the able bodied that do not want to work on the backs of those that do is not the right thing.
Can someone on this board tell me why it is just that an able bodied person should have their needs met by the taxes of those that work?

It's those damn lazy arse ________ that feel they shouldn't have to work because their ________, so they refuse to work.

Because politicians love pork and will never cut the budget for the good of the country.
Isn't that obvious?
Welfare helps food corporations many times over than those in poverty.
Free phones are write offs for telecom companies.

But, this really doesn't touch the fundamental problems.
1)The least the leeches could do is to not portray what they get as their RIGHT. A little fricking gratitude please.
2)Americans don't really care about poor people. That's been a fallacy I've recognized my whole life. I can prove it easily. Propose a policy that isn't a tax increase but rather........propose that we redirect some of our freebies to ACTUAL poor people around the world. The reality is, even the poorest Americans are in the top 10% of all people on the planet. You can qualify for welfare in America and you're about a 3%er worldwide. We see gripes about the other 99%........lol.........Basically, America IS the 1%.
3)We need to COMPLETELY abandon the idea that if you receive government money, we can't tell you how you're allowed to spend it and there can't be strings attached. My fricking arse. You get help while supplying nothing, we get to apply strings.
4)THIS one is the biggie. We simply MUST stop talking about it in terms of "the poor" unless by "the poor", we mean about 65% of Americans who are VERY attached to their freebies. The reality is, only about 35% of Americans pay enough in taxes to actually have a skin in the game and I'm being VERY generous by using that as the cut line.

People who don't pay don't care about how much you pay. As long as the people who don't pay continue to vote nothing will change.
