some of the long drive guys are big, some aren't. look at the guys who are big, they are also tall. so they sacrifice some swing speed for heavier arms which produces more smash factor, but they also have long arms so they can get away with it.

but, they still have to get their hips and body out of the way of those bulky arms, and that's not an easy thing to do and takes exceptional lower body ability. So, I guess there are some who could possibly benefit from bulk, but they still have to have extremely strong abs and thighs to move that bulk around.

So, I will concede it could possibly help a few people if you have the right size and only plan on hitting long clubs so you have room to swing. But, I content that for the overwhelming majority of folks who play golf and want to gain more distance, getting big arms is not going to help.

having strong arms, esp forearms, and strong hands/grip strength will absolutely help you hit the ball farther ...

The best swing in the wirld us only as effective as the strength of the fingers to hang onto the club at impact. If your hands are weak, the shock of impact will move them on the club. Exercise your hands, overtrain them--they can't be too strong...

now, i'm no henry cotton ... but then again, he's no anonymous internet expert himself ... lucky for him he took his own advice ...
