Man up, play straight shots. You wanna try 300 + tee shots? Feel free. But the guy managing the course with a 2 iron will wear you out all day.


I never said it was unfair. I understand everyone plays the same course.

I'm just saying it isn't good golf. The USGA shows up at these courses and tightens the fairways and grows out the rough. Typically changing the way architects intended for the holes to be played strategically. But I guess they understand weekend hackers just want to see a bloodbath once a year, so they give them what they want.

Also, no one is going to be able manage this course with a 2 iron when it's playing 7800+ yards.

The US open has always been designed this way and many times even par after 3 is solid

I've got to tell you this is exactly how the architecture of the course is designed to play in terms of championship golf. The course can't be maintained this way all year from a maintenance and a speed of play standpoint.
