Wilmer McLean owned a home at the 1st battle of the Civil War (Manassas/Bull Run) and a cannonball went through his house
He moved away to another town in Virginia to try and get away from the war....that town was Appomattox Courthouse. Lee and Grant negotiated the terms of ending the war in his living room
