Was it the way he was conducting the meeting? I'm actually having trouble remembering.

I think we were supposed to assume that it was Don Corleone's wisdom and experience that helped him to that conclusion. Similar to the way he knew how the traitor would approach Michael. There may have been some things that stood out, but I don't think it was any one glaring red flag in particular. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about any of that.

He chaired the meeting. No one made him chair but the others deferred to him.
