I have a 36 volt riptide and my breaker will trip occasionally. It normally happens when I am running at high speed for a lengthy amount of time and in warmer temperatures. When I replaced my batteries about a year and a half ago, I replaced the breaker, but it will still trip occasionally. IMHO its a safeguard and doing its job when it trips.

Minn Kota rigging chart
This minn Kota rigging chart link says your trolling motor should have a 60 amp breaker. I was having a very similar issue with my 80lb ulterra it would pop the 50 if the wind was blowing really hard and it was on anchor. Before I swapped it, it was doing it more and more often. I bought one of these

ETA: Theriot was a little quicker than me!
