I heard after Aug 1st state law requires speed vans and cameras doing speed surveillance have to have signs posted so many feet from the camera.
Its been that way in NOLA since they've rolled them out months ago.

New Orleans has a universal speed limit of 35 on divided streets and 25 on undivided streets unless otherwise posted.
And they lean the "photo enforcement" sign up against the rear bumper of the unit, since the ordinance requires it to be posted "within 500 feet" and has no minimum distance.

The pic isn't showing up.
I hate these damn things. I pass 2 on my commute almost every day. I call and say I'm not paying and they never send me anything and I haven't been sent to collections and my credit score hasn't dropped.
The one that pissed me off the most was at Carrollton and Washington. Sped up so I wouldn't get a red light ticket, and they popped me for going 44 in a 35.

I remember years ago probably around 2010 when Lakeview got that one on canal boulevard, on several occasions I would drive by and it would have a trash can thrown over it haha

And they won't, you'll just walk to your car one day and have a boot on it. It sucks.

Really surprised the locals haven't doused the camera ticket cars with gasoline and set them on fire yet.

I've never seen one with the sign leaning on the car. They definitely don't prominently place them (usually low and about 200' or so away), but they're never right on the vehicle from what I've seen.
THe ones I see are usually on Tchop and West End. Obviously it could be different elsewhere in the city.

Why would you think that was a good idea?

12 mph in a 15? I'd actually go to traffic court and fight that one.

I didn't know the red light cameras could pop you for speeding too
Posted on 6/28/17 at 9:45 am to RJL2
Yep, for 5mph over in a school zone or 9mph over when school zone is not active.

I find that the NOPD rolls them out right before rush hr and leaves them there all day. They drop their people off after rush hr to drive them back to the yard. Usually, they put them in the same spot for a week.
