I like Strief and all, but am I the only one who thinks this is really weird? Since when do NFL teams give money away with no return? He wasn't holding out, there is no contract extension. How do the Saints benefit? And don't tell me Strief will play better or work harder, he's a pro and was already being paid. Am I wrong to think the Saints should act like a business? Do Belichick or Pete Carroll just hand out raises for no reason? If Strief gets money for nothing, why doesn't Unger, or Ingram, or any other player already under contract who played well last year?

The Pats literally just did this with Gronk.
And you know how everyone here is always saying we need to be like the Pats.
Also why Strief and not player x is easily answered with Strief has been vastly underpaid pretty much his entire tenure. This could be his last payday. The wanted to show respect to a Saints lifer and also show that hard work and being a good teammate and good person can pay off.
And don't (good) businesses reward long tenured workers with raises? So they are acting like a (good) business.
