still love the couple we went with - they're good friends. You just learn that not everyone has the same eating/driving/vacationing habits.
I am done with family vacations. I love my family but I'm not a fan of anything that requires an entire day's schedule.
I like a planned event here or there.
I don't need a Critical Path for vacation.

Like LouisianaLady said always, always, always have your own mode of transportation. that way you can do whatever you want and don't have to go with the group if you don't feel like it. We do a fair amount of group/family vacations.
My first group Disney vacation was stressful. There was a schedule to keep. We had to go to this park on this day, go to this parade at this time, ride this ride at this time, meet up for meals at this time and at this place. After the first one stressed me out I said "no more." I go on vacation to have fun not to stress. I hurt some feelings at first, but now me and my kids have fun. If they want to go with the others then they can. Sometimes I join the group for something, but I do what I want. This has been liberating for me. The wife and I argue a lot less, the kids don't feel stressed, and everyone is a lot happier.
Don't sit in a hotel/resort room and sulk while watching TV. You can do that at home for a lot cheaper. Get out, do what you (an adult) wants to and have fun and be happy.
