If you want 06-07 Classic, I would get an LBZ duramax and call it a day. My last truck was an 07 lbz and I loved it. It totaled so now I'm in the market for a truck and it's going to be a 17 duramax. I want to test out that L5P. If you get a duramax, I doubt you'll want to go back to a gas burner.

I'd actually prefer an LMM 07.5-10 that hasn't been deleted...and then delete the DPF myself(becomes an LBZ)...I looked for over a year for a truck that matched mileage, condition, color and interior...
I ended up with a used 11 with the the DEF due to the better towing ability...I bought the extended warranty to cover it's usual glitches instead of deleting and dealing with possible EPA inspection issues and the slightly louder exhaust from a delete...
I had that 01 modified for too long and even with a Corsa(quietest aftermarket exhaust for an LB7)and a resonator, the towing and highway exhaust note just wore on me in my grumpy old age...I just don't want that anymore.
guessing once this warranty does expire in a few years, I will go ahead and delete even though it's not what I want.

I wouldn't get the L5P until second year IMO
Unless you have money to throw away I wouldn't buy a new truck for 70k+
start looking a year in advance for that perfect gently used truck.
My 2011 was 5 years old and I still had to pay what I paid for my 01 "at invoice new"(36k)
my 01 now would cost about 58k
my 11 now would cost about 62k
our first house cost 83k
but people will pay those higher than giraffes arse prices for new trucks...
Is new technology and inflation that much more costly? or did demand just drive the prices this high?

Have you seen the price of the lbz's? They are insane. No way in hell am I paying that for a 10-11 year old vehicle. I'll get a gasser that age and pay half. That's nutz
