No, they are developers signed to a contract with Sony. Sony does not own them, in the same way Microsoft did not own Bungie. Only a complete idiot would let a company like Sony or Microsoft literally own them.

At first, I thought it was just an elaborate troll. Nah, you're just dumb.

Sony owns the IPs, product, physical offices, and assets of each studio. They even own the IPs for several non-first party studios. Sony literally owns over 15 studios across the world. They are not contracted, they employ them. There's literally no difference between Sony owned studios and Nintendo owned studios.

There are a few studios that Sony is contracted with that they don't necessarily "own"; Kojima Productions would be a recent example.

But Naughty Dog is straight up Sony. "Naughty Dog...Founded by Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin in 1984 as an independent developer, the studio was acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2001."

So in other words, I'm partially right and calling me dumb over it makes you look a mental retard screaming at the top of your lungs "HORIZON ZERO DAWNNNNNNNN"

Not to mention Naughty Dog being owned by Sony would certainly make them look worse in my eyes. So if Sony goes under, which ain't happening, Naughty Dog just stops making games? Sounds like they got a shitty deal.

That's the whole reason I've been questioning that. That's such a bad deal that I could not believe it to be true.
