What I always found very impressive about Kareem's career and legacy was that he maintained such consistency and longevity for practically his entire career, 20 82-game seasons. This guy was winning Finals MVPs, earning all-pro honors, and leading the Los Angeles Lakers in the major statistical categories in his late 30s/early 40s until Magic finally supplanted him in 87. Also can't forget game 6 of the 88 Finals when Kareem drained 2 FTs to elevate the Lakers past the Pistons and force a game 7 at age 41, saving the team's repeat hopes. Not even MJ could remain a viable NBA player at this similar age when he was with the Wizards and basically responsible for the entire team composition per his duties in their front office. The "exalted" MJ had all the power in the building and yet couldn't even build a winner when he returned again, so that serves to further make my point about Kareem exceeding MJ in terms of legacy.
