To address this point. If you take the team defensive ratings, the individual player's defensive ratings, and the minutes played, you determine the difference between the defensive rating compared to the defensive rating of his teammates.

Essentially, Kobe's is defensive rating is 0.35 points worse than his teammates, while Lebron is 2.25 points better than his. So not only is Lebron's raw defensive ratings 3 points better than Kobe, he's actually 2.6 points better than Kobe relative to his teammates.

So if you want to argue the impact of teammates defense, then you probably shouldn't use it for the player who performs worse defensively than his teammates.

But hey, you have highlight film and some subjective awards to support your argument.
