Dabo Sweeney at Clemson was a similar hire. I never wanted coach O to get the job, but its feasible his career could go the same route as Dabo's.
i think we can all agree Les Miles was finally exhausting the capital won by the national championships and was tanking the program. Coach O should be a step up at worst. If he can continue to recruit at a high level, and no more handcuffing the offense- not to mention actually having an innovative offensive plan. Matched with Aranda's Defense, it could work.

Wait ... did I miss it where Dabo was head coach at Wake Forest or some other ACC school ... and failed miserably and left the program like hot shite on fire?
That sort of failure was NOT on Dabo's resume. Dabo is now a MNC-winning HC at his FIRST HC gig.

Situationally it is nowhere near the same.
Dabo was hired to a program where at the time the expectations were not nearly as high as they are now.
O is hired to a program where expectations are still high, and part of argument for O was that by keeping him as the head guy, it was somehow a step closer to contending sooner than later.

No it's not.
Why do you people keep saying this bullshite.
When Dabo was hired at Clemson they had ZERO TOP 20 FINISHES in this century.
They hadn't won a conference title since 1991.
The 2 situations were nothing alike.
In the last decade lsu has a NC and plaued for another in 2011.
The 2 situations arent comparable.
Literally the only likeness is neither had been a full-time coordinator.
