do you realize that IF that had actually happened, he really WOULD BE one of the best in the game. as it stands, he isn't. that should be a problem for you. he has the biggest budget, the most resources, the most fan support, the most exposure, the most EVERYTHING. you just proved that he's falling short, no pun intended.

Resume alone, he is still one of the better coaches in the game today. He just hasn't lived up to it as of late. I'm not blinded by Mainieri, just don't think it's fair to discredit everything he has done.

This is not the 90's big dawg. The rest of the baseball world has caught up. And before you say anything, that's not Mainieri's fault. It was catching up on the tail end of Skip's time.

How so? In what was is a national seed not an achievement. It is a direct reflection of your body of work over the course of a regular season.
