Amazing is the leader in this segment and I don't see them giving that up. AWS is perhaps the major player in hosting and data storage for the world and Alexa leverages that platform.

Amazon is also pushing their Alexa into other products. For example, the new Ecobee4 has Alexa built into it. And I would expect this to happen with more products.
If they would introduce native integration between FireTV and the Echo, that'd be great.

Not likely but it is more likely for them to decide to go a different direction with their home products and stop supporting their existing stuff. It has already happened and likely to happen again.
Just something to consider when selecting which ecosystem to buy into.
