Dances With Wolves is peak Costner. What an incredibly well put together film. However, the older I get (35), I am beginning to understand more and more that Waterworld and Postman were given the worst possible reviews by liberal media because Costner ---GASP!!!--- is .... brace yourself, perhaps sit down... a CONSERVATIVE. It's pretty well documented at this point that, bare minimum, Waterworld isn't as bad as it was made out to be. Good Lord, they were both legitimately terrible movies. So bad that they are entertaining for that reason. And Waterworld is the kind of "global environmental catastrophe warning" movie that the left confuses with "science" and loves.

I'm about the same age as you and tend to agree after watching it recently
but I think the majority of bad press it got was due to an astronomical (at the time) budget and a kind of "out there" premise

I like both The Postman and Waterworld- own both on DVD. I think The Postman is a legitimately great movie and Waterworld is just a lot of fun.
