There's your problems. Louisiana is a vaccuum of suck for nurses and nursing. In comparison to the rest of the country. Still a good living, but very limited.
I'm in Houston and am a LAZY sack of turds and pull down $80K without breaking a sweat.

I used to have a job with ZERO OT or holidays or weekends and topped mid 70's.

If someone just wants to make median income in La as an RN, then more power to them. But if someone wants to make 100k, the opportunity is there. And not have to kill yourself with OT.
