Because the third picture is the best representation of what it looks like in person, and I found it to be not nearly as beautiful and magestic as Alaska or Montana. I've also been to beaches in the USVI which impressed me more than the Grand Canyon.

You're referring to that rip off of a waterfall? $95 to visit it due to the reservation? Yeah...that's overrated. So is the Grand Canyon. It's a hole in the flat ground.
I'm going because it's on the way this summer, but I'd much rather see Flagstaff or Sedona.
