For a couple of years I work for Associated Grocers (AG stores such as Hi Nabor, Calandro's, Ralph's, etc.) and they use the best slaughter house in the US: IBP (Iowa Beef Processors.) Dollar for dollar they beat any of the local grocery stores such as Winn Dixie, Wal-Mart, etc. And, if you go to Calandro's or Ralph's where they carry the prime, it's even better. Count on it...

Tramontes on Old Jefferson has aged prime steaks and at a decent price. Cheaper than Maxwells and Chris's

Pretty good fresh sasauge as well.
I used to buy the sausage at Tramontes, but never again. I have never seen/eaten sausage with so much fat in it before in my life. When you cook it it shrinks in size by more than half its original size because of all the fat. I put a link in the microwave and was amazed at the fat and grease oozing out of it.
I happen to like the burgers there by the way.
