Frick off if you don't live in New Orleans. What, did your family used to vacation to the statue and pray in front of it?

The pro statue crowd is absolutely ridiculous, who gives a shite. It was on city land, the city voted to take it down, groups sued and appealed and lost on all legal front, so its coming down. Go cry in your safe space, or hey maybe buy the statues and some land at set them up on your own private land for people to come see them.

Awe. How cute. I didn't choose to live in your shithole city because of how dangerous it is. I was actually working in ghettos before Katrina in your proud city. Commuted there daily for years and did a lot of work to help "improve" it.

Awe. How cute. Insult people who have actually put tons of time and money into your shitty economy.

Oh, I really don't give a shite either. Tear the shite down. All of it. Erase and rewrite history in the manner you see fit.

What fricksticks like you fail to recognize with people like me is that I'm sitting over here literally laughing at you. Hard.

Like I said, tear down your statues and erase your history. IDGAF. Just like IDGAF about helping your community any longer either.

The OP has a very valid point. The reasons people are leaving your city and won't come back will never be solved by silly actions like this. But go ahead and mock people like us. Keep it up.

I grew up in Nola. Never in my life did I meet a person upset about the statues. Lee Circle was well known as a geographical point but nobody gave much thought to the statue itself. The other statues, no one gave much thought to and most locals probably are only vaguely even aware of. It was never an issue until Mitch made it one.

I think what the pro-statue people get annoyed at is a little harder to define. It's not the statues themselves, it's more like: doesn't the city have more important things to worry about? Doesn't the black community have more important things to worry about? Isn't this just another way to remind blacks of past oppression so they never move on? Isn't this just another way to blame whitey?

And I think both sides want to "move on." One side things tearing down statues os moving on. The other side thinks tearing down statues is dwelling in the past.
