How many backs have been predicted to be chosen in the first eight picks during the past decade?
Zeke Elliott
Todd Gurley
Trent Richardson
CJ Spiller
Darren McFadden
5 top ten backs in the last year.

The odds of a talent like Fournette ending up like Richardson are far less than him being a top level back.
Statistically this is not true.

It cannot be stressed enough that keeping Fournette out of Carolina's backfield would be huge.
Meh, I'm not as concerned about it as you are. They will still be picking a key impact player at that draft spot. No matter who they chose, they are getting a player that has the potential to impact us in a big way.

Assume you meant last decade as per my premise. Five top ten drafted backs in 10 years puts Fournette in rare company. If he fails then everyone in the NFL are wrong.
I still believe my argument is valid, but the proof will be on the field after all the picks are in. Hope they draft wisely through all rounds.
