Its not my belief Fournette is the second coming. How many backs have been predicted to be chosen in the first eight picks during the past decade?

All first round picks have the potential to be Boom or Bust. The odds of a talent like Fournette ending up like Richardson are far less than him being a top level back. Even if his best would be relative to Mark Ingram the Saints gain younger fresh legs for a back with five years of NFL wear. Fournette also has breakaway speed Ingram does not poseess.

It cannot be stressed enough that keeping Fournette out of Carolina's backfield would be huge. The combination of Newton, Benjamin and Fournette would be lethal and put even more pressure on a shaky defense twice a year. If he goes earlier to the Jets or Jaguars then its not so bad.

It must be noted that all three NFC South teams have potent offenses. Fournette would provide a more balanced ball control offense which would allow the Saints to reduce possession time for their rivals. This would be more likely to hold down the opponents scoring than would any of the likely defensive players left on the board at 11. There will still be very good defensive players left during their next four to five picks to add quality and depth to the defense.

If Fournette falls to 11 then likely even more defensive talent is gone and the pickings are even slimmer. Now it was announced one more potential has fallen as DB Gareon Conley has been charged with sexual assault.

Lets hope whatever direction they go they land a real impact player.

Zeke Elliott
Todd Gurley
Trent Richardson
CJ Spiller
Darren McFadden

5 top ten backs in the last year.

Statistically this is not true.

Meh, I'm not as concerned about it as you are. They will still be picking a key impact player at that draft spot. No matter who they chose, they are getting a player that has the potential to impact us in a big way.
