Bulbs burn out and break, the smart plugs are more versatile. It's probably splitting hairs with as long as LED bulbs last but I prefer the options of the smart plugs.
Smart bulbs are obviously the easiest solution for fixtures and exterior lights though

i think it is the exact opposite. it is better to put a zwave switch on your outdoor lights because usually that one switch controls 1, 2, or 3 groups of flood lights.
