Anyone own one or have any recommendations? Or would you choose gunite? My wife and kids have been asking for one since we bought our house 2 years ago and I'm about to cave and get one. I had heard fiberglass is the way to go.

Whichever you choose, put a good fence around it to keep kids out. Cannot stress this enough.

I've had both kinds. I put in a fiberglass with Brandon at Cajun Pools one year ago.

FG is cheaper. Gunite will give you more design options... your imagination and money are the only limitations.

Maintenance on FG is easier.

Oh... and don't think the price of the pool is the end of it! Upgrade copping $$$. Water feature $$$. Electrician not included $$$. Custom decking $$$. Re- landscape $$$.

I have a gunite salt water. Put it in about 3 years ago.

I can hardly taste the salt. No equipment shows any sign of rust. I have a pool heater for the hot tub and pool and use it frequently--it is totally clean with no signs of salt erosion or build up.

The tiles on the walls of the pool and the back wall with fountains do get thick white calcium/Lyme build up which requires acid to clean...only issue.

I put about 200-300 lbs. of salt a year in the water--that's it. It is almost maintenance free.

I do not have any experience with fiberglass, so can't help there.

We had a freeform fiberglass saltwater pool from Viking, and loved it.
