Every one of the accidents is in our politicians for dragging their feet on finding solutions to traffic issues in that area.

Yes. That section between LA1 and about 1/4 mile west of LA415 should be 3 lanes wide in either direction. There should also be a 4 lane, limited access highway between I-10 and US190 around that area to divert traffic efficiently towards the Huey Long Bridge.
