Terrible argument. While tragic, it's their call to not wear a seatbelt. A lot of legal things that cause death you could use this argument against.
The really strong argument is insurance. That affects everyone on the road.

I wasn't arguing. I simply expressed that a tragedy that affected my life changed my outlook on the subject. If that tragedy happen to OP, he might change the way he feels. There's nothing wrong with learning through other's experiences and pain.
