I don't understand putting one right there. I am guessing they are trying to hurt Rouse's (LeBlanc's) next door, but with a full Wal-Marks less than 2 miles in either direction and a WM supermarket about 3 miles north, it seems they are only hurting themselves.

People that shop Rouse's, are going to continue to shop Rouse's. I believe the only people who are going to shop the new WM are the people that shopped the other WM's, but now have a place 2 miles closer (such as my wife, my avi is her pic).

Doesn't WM have a reputation to open these smaller stores to get a competitor to go out of business, and then close that WM?

I wonder if the LeBlanc family knew this store was going to be built before they sold to Rouse's.

i wouldn't be so sure

They put one across the street from a brookshires in Monroe and it is absolutely killing them

a super walmart is less than 2 miles away at that

the neighbrhood markets are small and made to get you in and out really quickly, mostly self checkouts with only a few manned cashier spots

with wal mart prices and the ability to get everything you need there and get out fast will have people in there over rouses and I love rouses

Went there on opening day Wednesday...took the African American cashier 9 minutes to ring up 3 cans of dip. Bless her heart

Wasn't one of the reasons LeBlancs sold was because of the hit they took thanks to all of the WalMarts? I know they originally tried to fight the new location

I don't think there's a single spot in the country that would be a stupid business decision for Walmart

The last time I went to Walmark ..I saw a women pull a Big arse Knife on someone for a parking spot..with that said, Rouse's has the same prices without the threat of your life.

Multi-billion dollar global corporation's business acumen > your business acumen.

Self-check doesn't appeal to me. I always have beer/wine/whiskey to purchase.

One + for Brookshire's & Rouse's is if the lines get more than 3 deep, they open new lines. WM, not so much.

I won't set foot in walmarks simply because of how poor the checkout and service are.

If they beat rouses prices, which they will, enough people will shop there to make it more than profitable

Why go to Wal-Mart if there is a local market, Rouses, etc. in the area? Guess if you're struggling financially it makes sense, but if not then you should really have more respect for yourself and never step foot in a Wal-Mart.
