You should be okay. I was in Rome for Republic Day 3 years ago and it didn't mess any plans up. Things just may be more crowded with everyone off work if it's a weekday.

Rolling out today. Have everything scheduled except for train/public transport tickets which I will take care of when I get there. Thanks for everyone that helped in this thread, hope it helps others as well.....
