frick. I'll be there around the same time doing a very similar itinerary. I knew about Labor Day 5/1 but didn't know about liberation day. This may screw my plans a bit too

You should be okay. I was in Rome for Republic Day 3 years ago and it didn't mess any plans up. Things just may be more crowded with everyone off work if it's a weekday.
