The Cubs (5-2) and the Dodgers (4-4) meet tonight at Wrigley. Cubs took Game 1 on a walk off single 3-2. John Lackey (1-0, 4.50) takes on Brandon McCarthy (1-0, 3.00). Cubs will recieve their World Series championship rings prior to the game. Go Cubs Go.

I feel about Jon Jay the way I felt about Lassie Edmonds when he first came to the Cubs. It's going to take awhile, I'm afraid, before I come around.

Great read on Schwarber and the Cubs scout who followed him:

"After reading that Schwarber showed up with a trimmer body, I'm making the call right now that Schwarber is going to be our pick and put up Big Papi numbers,"

Wish the Yankees could have gotten him for Chapman last year... Would have been a great DH for the next 15 years

He wasn't for sale because lefties with power that are postseasons monsters don't get traded for one inning guys that can't pitch with people on base or after an inning has started.

I thought you were all about comp'ing him to Mike Napoli.

Meh last year and hurt with limited experience, lack of position, and the youth they had I thought the Yankees could parlay Chapman into him and mid-level guys, although Torres looks like the real deal now

You also thought the Cubs were going to re-sign Folwer at the end of the season, that Schwarber didn't have a position, and that it would take Schwarber plus prospects to get Chapman.

He has a position, it's left field. He's fine there.

Hey, this is Theo Epstein. Have you met Theo Epstein?

His World Series was pretty rough. Wish he would have showed up. Maybe we don't need 7.

Meh, what he did during the regular season helped put them in the position they were in. The mo eye may have not been right but he was very important.

Schwarber is still a guy without a real position, no where does he Excel but he is decent right now. He will eventually become a DH and thrive only having to hit.

You've been wrong about him all along. What's another year of continuing down that line?

Wrong about Schwarber? Just because the Cubs put him in a position doesn't mean he excels.... I mean the Phillies played Ryan Howard at 1B even though he was poor. Schwarber is an average to below average defender, dude can hit though. Looking at baseball reference his career defensive WAR is -0.6

Yeah. Like as wrong as you can be. For instance, you posted last year in the trade deadline thread (if I'm not mistaken) that the Cubs should trade Schwarber because he won't help them win a title "this year." As we sit here right now knowing what we know, was that statement right or wrong?

Was he the reason they got the the WS?
Yes he helped once here as many people didn't think he would play (myself included) but he was not a reason they actually got to the WS.

Where am I wrong about him being a bad defender? I've stated that as a reason he will move on to a DH role eventually several times. Especially as he ages.

The Cubs had the best defense in team history by all metrics last year. Does putting an average to below average LF out there greatly hurt their chance of winning?
