re: Cocodrie vs. Grand Isle--where would you rather a camp? best fishing?

Cocodrie is the ticket for me. I looked at GI, the Foo, and Cocodrie, and ended up buying in Coco Marina. Inshore fishing is far superior to GI, and GI is only getting worse.

Lastly, I disagree with everyone saying if you have kids go to GI. GI's police dept is corrupt, the locals have the reputation of being corrupt and/or on drugs, and every time I've been I've had something stolen from my truck/boat, or someone tried to steal something from my truck/boat, or some fools get in a fight at one of the bars and ruin the vibe. This isn't the kind of place I want my kids.

(Knock on wood) I've never even heard of anyone having anything stolen in Cocodrie, except for once, and they went to jail for 10+ years.

That said, I can appreciate the draw of the restaurants and bars. The restaurant at Hurricane Hole is pretty good. Coco Marina's food isn't really sourced well and it mostly frozen stuff. I feel like there are one or two places in GI where the food is actually prepared as opposed to thawed.
