I'll have to text my good buddy who moved back there from NO a few years ago. He has a two and a half year old now and grew up there like I did so he probably knows what neighborhoods are trending one way or another.
There are good established neighborhoods towards downtown/west of Greyhound stadium that you can get in for under 500k, but I'll post when I hear back from him for more specifics.
