In the 1970's, there were as many as 12 black touring pros, and they were almost all former caddies. Now, Tiger is the only one, and he's all but retired.

Caddie programs were the entry to the game for poor and working class blacks and whites. Now, there are very few clubs with caddies left, and most of those are supplied by third party management companies who hire college kids and aspiring golf pros to fill those roles.
