Being alone just to avoid one day being alone is fricked up. I wake up next to an amazingly beautiful wife every morning and the thought of losing her pains me, but I'm sure as frick not going to be by myself simply to relieve those thoughts. Having something you cherish means you have something to lose, and as scary as that sounds the alternative is...well you pretty much explain what the alternative is...being secure you have nothing, I mean everything...that doesn't include a woman who loves you.

I'd guess the divorced folks on here might have a different take. Many of them said they'd never get married if they could do it all over.
You shouldn't have to get married to have a deep, romantic interpersonal relationship with a woman. It's an outdated institution that clearly doesn't fit everyone. We all have different body dimensions, so we buy different clothes. We have different aptitudes so we have different jobs/careers. We have so many different personalities and preferences but so many more people end up getting married when it doesn't fit.
Culture simply hasn't caught up to that reality.
Good for you that you found someone that fits you and that marriage fits you. Good people get married all of the time and go through a lot of misery when all that was wrong is that the institution of marriage didn't fit what they had together.
