you really think that getting rid of pre existing conditions coverage is going to be popular? because that's the hill this divide between republicans is being fought on. trump wants to keep pre existing coverage protection the freedom caucus is against that. 50% of americans have coverage through our employers. we all have pre existing condition coverage. 30% of americans have medicare, they have pre existing condition coverage. the only people without it would be those who are purchasing insurance in the individual market.
do you think politically that's a winner?
as for the free market in heath care, tell me the free market case for spending 1.4 million dollars on a pre mature baby spending 8 weeks in a neonatal intensive care unit. there isn't one and i'm not ragging on the free market it just doesn't apply in that case. by the way it's not that the cost would be lower without insurance neonatal intensive care wouldn't exist with out insurance. the practice of neonatal intensive care wouldn't exist without it, it would have remained outside the sphere of affordability.
