if they want Lonzo as an endorser, they play by LaVar's rules
Billion dollars and distribution contract. That's quite the ransom for an unproven commodity.

Ben Simmons was worth $12 mil (plus incentives) to Nike. You think Lonzo is worth what Lavar is demanding? Will it hurt their bottom line if they tell him to piss up a rope?

Imagine if LBJ created his King James brand back when he started and then licensed it to Nike.
LBJ was a once a generation type player. Is Lonzo?

If it works out for Lonzo then great, if it doesnt, then so what. It was worth a shot.
Getting into bed with that nutcase in order to sign his son to a shoe deal? Idk about that.

ETA: I guess I don't understand how this BS start-up tshirt company is supposed to leverage these major companies into a ridiculous shoe deal. I think the supposed leverage is a paper tiger.

ETA2: And consider the precedent it would set. All it takes to strongarm a major company into a massive shoe deal is to set up a tshirt company and create a logo? Every high draft pick from here on out would be stupid not to do the same.

SVP had a great reaction to this clown.

Said he's never going to discuss him again on his show because its about the kid in the jersey, not the insufferable guy in the stands.

It is just a negotiating ploy to try to force the issue to be more of a partner with the shoe company and not just a paid endorser.

We arent talking about products we are talking about branding. If Lavar owns the BBB brand and logo and licenses it to the shoe company, then he gets a bigger piece of the pie. Nike owns the King James brand and logo and pays LBJ a percentage. What if LBJ owned the King James brand and the logo from the beginning? If LBJ ever got pissed he could leave Nike and take his logo with him.

Think about Jordan, what if he owned Jumpman himself? And he got pissed and took Jumpman to Adidas. Think about the leverage he would have had if he owned the brand and logo from the beginning.
