My guess, as well. Railguns would be the much more likely weapon of choice in space, rather than lasers, if we ever did get to the point of having conflict in those environments.

Only problem with railguns in space would be Newton’s Third Law of Motion… equal but opposite reaction. The railgun would have to be attached to a pretty massive ship to ensure when it is fired it didn’t send the ship spiraling out of control. Lasers don’t have that problem. But then again, we aren’t there yet. Let’s find a way to get to space cheaply before we decide to fight up there.

This. Think of the MAC guns in Halo. Capital ships have a rail gun that can launch 600 ton to 3000 ton tungsten projectiles at targets at extreme velocities.
