I mean, who didn't grow up with this?
And if you didn't, you're too young to make judgment calls on the history of the NFL.
It's not remotely the greatest play in NFL history or even for that era.
But it was replayed non-stop on TV for 3 decades. From every morning NFL show.
It is iconic. Beyond regional iconic. Beyond anything. It's the freaking catch. It got 10x more airplay than Montana's TD throw to Taylor, Immaculate Reception, wide right, etc.
Iconic status...Does not equal greatness status.
But it truly became one of the most iconic pictures in American sports.
