Pharmacist here. Suboxone treatment in my area is a mess. People are on it for years. It should be used for months.
90 suboxone is over $700.
A visit is required every month for a new Rx. Most opiate clinics don't accept Medicaid and most heroin addicts are poor. A visit costs $200-$300.
Therefore the Dr has no incentive to really, really help the patient stop.
It disgusts me but I do really feel for the patients. Some of them used to be lawyers, nurses, or other good jobs.
