re: 1969 football season final rankings

Everyone has always thought that the famous Texas-Arkansas game of December 6,1969 was for the national title but just the fact that Ole Miss beat Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl a few weeks later tells me that LSU would've given Texas all they could handle in the Cotton Bowl......and then some. Plus, like another poster mentioned, LSU had already won the Cotton Bowl twice as an underdog during the 1960's and I think Texas was well aware of that. They wanted no part of LSU that year. I do have to be fair and say that I was living in Rome, Italy in 1970 when the 3-0 Notre Dame game was played and the Americans living in Rome (most of them liberal Yankees) were very respectful of LSU and the SEC.
