I think it's best to understand how the school choice idea would work under Trump/Devos plan. So can you start by telling me what their exact plan is?
If the plan could actually provide 100% tuition and other various expense costs associated with private schools to low income families i would be all for it.
I think Franken's comments were related to this concern. If you redirect funding of public schools for these vouchers then that will diminish the quality, even further, of public schools. Which is fine if the education budget could cover all those school choice costs and truly provide choice to the kids and parents.
If this program truly provides school choice it is a good idea, but if the subsidies aren't actually enough (monetarily) to provide the low income people, it's supposed to help, with the choice of schools then what's the point? If that latter is true then is it really providing "choice"?
So has their been an actual study done on the costs associated with school choice and how much public funding it would need?
Secondly, are they going to force private schools to participate in this? If the schools have the choice on whether or not they want to participate, what assusrance is there that children will be provided with a better choice?
I'm all for getting our future generations the best education possible, but there's still big questions which have not been answered in order to say whether or not this will work.

Or just a supporter of public schools for everybody else's children?

Being a proponent of public schools does not mean being against private schools.

I think most will be surprised that he procreated. That's my takeaway. Never struck me as a breeder.

Liberals love choice when it comes to abortion but despise it when it comes to schools.
